5 meetings on Saturdays' on Ayurvedic acupressure and natural holistic medicine knowledge for common ailments. Starts on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. First meeting is free.
Natural holistic medicine supports the innate healing abilities and potential within you. It addresses you as a whole, considering your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects and our relation with the environment and each other.
In this workshop we will learn and practice:
- how to massage/touch energy points in the body and some simple self massage techniques that contribute to the resolution of common ailments and improve our health. You will receive a printed material as a reminder of the location of points.
- lifestyle changes, simple natural medicines and nutritional aspects that will potentiate your health.
- the emotional aspects of certain symptoms and a way to relate to dis-ease as a call or opportunity for change, growth and connection.
We will work with the energy points from the Ayurvedic Medicine tradition. They are called Marmas and as all other energy points of all traditions, they are junctions between physiology (matter) and consciousness (energy). They activate the inner pharmacy of the body signaling the body to produce what it needs, including hormones, neurochemicals, etc., in a safe and gentle way. We will also include some techniques from Taoist Chi Nei Tsang therapy when working with the digestive organs.
We propose a cycle of 5 meetings every Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m starting on February 17. First meeting is free and will finish at 6:30. We advise you to join all the meetings because the body is better understood and treated as an interconnected whole. Nevertheless if this is not possible you can join single meetings as well. The workshop will be tailored according to the needs of the group so the program might change slightly as we go along.
